    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Can you believe the July letter is actually going out on time! Remember we can't write about the month until it is over. July was a great month for our Custom Cabin Rentals. Our weather in north eastern Minnesota was good as were the guests and fishing.
    Last month we showed you a picture of our annual 4th of July picnic at our dock, but we thought you might enjoy a picture of our chefs for the evening. They totally lost count of the number of hamburgers and hot dogs they cooked. All they would report was that it was "lots". Anyway, everyone seemed to have a great time.
    Last month, according to the pictures we are featuring, the fish of choice seemed to be bass, although we can attest, through the walleye dinners we were invited to join, that many, many walleye were also caught and enjoyed.
    This bass was a beauty and put up quite a fight. Naturally, we were not told where it was caught.
    Of course, while waiting for a nibble on your line, your eyes wander and you take in the beauty of the area. And then all of a sudden, something catches your eye up in the air. There is a previously unnoticed eagle's nest with mom, or dad, standing watch over "junior" who is probably happily napping in the not very neat, but sturdy nest. Junior is probably waiting for the other parent to arrive with lunch.
    Yes, here is another great bass caught by one of our guests. There is often a misconception that only men can catch the "really big" fish, however, our guides often tell us that the ladies are better fisher people. Something about having more patience before setting the hook. We are not taking sides.
    After having fished very hard in the morning and probably getting the allowed limit, it is time to stop for lunch and enjoy your labors. Here some of the guys are busy taking a hard earned break, preparing their fish for a delicious lunch, and generally relaxing.
    Alas, another fish caught, probably to complete his limit, and getting ready to head back to his cabin, where he can relax and get ready to enjoy his fish dinner.
    Speaking of feeding, here, an adult loon is feeding the young one. Soon, the baby will lose its "fluff" and gain the adult shiny black and white feathers. Some of the young ones will stay around until very late fall, while the adults will leave earlier. More about that in another letter.
    How could we possibly end a newsletter at this time of year without including one of our magnificent sunsets. People often ask us if we ever get tired of the sunsets. Our response is-never. Each one is always just different enough so that it always calls our attention to it. Unfortunately, we do not always photograph them.
    We appreciate all of you who send pictures of your wonderful experiences here in the Boundary Waters. Unfortunately, we are unable to use all of your pictures, but if we are not able to include them in our newsletters, we often add them to either our gallery pictures or to our fishing pictures pages on our web site. So please check those two sites as well.
